The goals of Jing Wei...............

..........are focused on meeting the needs of every individual that studies the arts of Tai Chi Qi Gong, whether in group sessions or as one-on-one instruction.  If you are seeking a form of internal and external exercise to focus your energy, calm your mind and to compliment any other exercise program you enjoy, Tai Chi Qi Gong may be for you.  Jing Wei also aims to bring together a balance of these ancient Asian arts with the research and results of recent scientific investigations.

Why Jing Wei?

Students, or players, of Tai chi Qi Gong work with their energy and that of the others to enhance not only their individual practice but many aspects of their daily lives.  That generation, storage and flow of energy is essential to all that study these arts and strive to improve their practice in order to enhance the body, mind and spirit.

Jing Wei refers to this flow of energy arising from a sense of oneself as connected to others and to one's environment.  It is not motivated by a sense of separateness.  It is action that is spontaneous and effortless.  Jing Wei should not be simply considered as inertia, physical exercise, or mere passivity.

Jing Wei can be thought of as the experience of swimming with the current, working with your energy to bring flow.  Our often used saying, "going with the flow," is a direct expression of this , which in its most simple form refers to behavior occurring in response to the flow of life and the energy within and around us.

The terms Jing and Wei can have very different meanings dependent on what Chinese traditional character is used that is associated with the individual pinyin term.  Below are the traditional characters, followed by the pinyin term and then the English language translation.

Jing - energy, perfect, excellent, refined, proficient

  Wei - to flow back
