Who is at Jing Wei............ ............ and what does he or she do? What is his or her background and qualifications? What is his or her personal philosophy?
Your instructorJohn has been a teacher of science and math, both in K-12 schools in Arizona and the Middle East for several years. Qualified as a scientist, focusing on physiology and biochemistry, and formally employed as an engineer, John aims to bring together the traditional teachings of the Asian arts with the rigor of the modern scientific method. A balance he considers essential to our learning. Having studied the history, philosophy, and practice of Tai Chi Qi Gong for some years, John has now focused on the Chen Style Tai Chi forms that he adapts for use with a variety of audiences. Committed to providing the Tai Chi Qi Gong experience to the community, John strives to reach out to the diverse population of northern Arizona and beyond and provide specific services that compliment the needs of the group while working with the individual needs within that group. With a passion for education and personal growth, John actively pursues additional training and knowledge that can assist him in providing a more comprehensive and enriched set of services that can be offered to beginning and continuing students of the Tai Chi Qi Gong arts. A lifelong student...always wanting to learn and live!
Personal philosophyWith a belief in self motivation via an energetic and enthusiastic approach to teaching and learning, I endeavor to share knowledge and resources via practical interactive lessons and training that provides cooperative student experiences. My vision is to employ traditional learning methods and scientific research that provides a rewarding learning opportunity and encourages student participation and development. My approach to education, learning and research, is aimed at integrating a wide range of goals, that (1) includes all individuals from a variety of knowledge and cultural backgrounds via group training sessions, workshops, and individual classes; (2) employing hands-on, minds-on research processes; (3) utilizing support systems via a variety of techniques, i.e. practical personal experience, research based training, and specific lesson modeling that integrates specific learning strategies; (4) includes the continuous development of my individual health educational portfolio via formal and informal educational seminars, workshops, and training practices. Objective: To work with teams and individuals that are committed and engaged in challenging health-related educational practices and research that provides opportunities for an innovative and quality based system of personal development for all. In addition, the planning and support of content rich activities and projects with students that provides an effective method of achieving specific near future and long term health-related educational goals.
